What to Know Before You Buy

PASM Compatibility

All kits in this guide require Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The 991 was available with or without PASM; if your 911 has standard (non-PASM) suspension, these springs will not fit. Verify your car has PASM before purchasing.

Carrera vs Turbo vs GTS

The 991 has different spring specifications for Carrera (base/S/4/4S), GTS, and Turbo/Turbo S. Kits are trim-specific — a Carrera S spring will not fit a Turbo. Match the kit to your exact model and drivetrain (2WD vs 4WD).

Front Axle Lift

Many 991 models have optional front axle lift. If your car has it, verify that the chosen spring kit is compatible. Some kits may require additional components or have different fitment notes for cars with front lift.

Alignment & Ride Quality

Drops under 1.2" typically stay within factory alignment specs. The Eibach Turbo kit (-0.8" F / -0.4" R) is the most conservative. H&R Sport kits (-1.0" to -1.2" F) are more aggressive. Always budget for a professional alignment after installation.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need PASM for these springs?

Yes. All kits in this guide require Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). If your 991 has standard (non-PASM) suspension, these springs will not fit. Verify your car's equipment before purchasing.

Will lowering springs void my factory warranty?

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer cannot void your entire warranty for installing aftermarket parts. However, if a warranty claim is directly related to the modification, the dealer can deny that specific claim.

Do lowering springs affect ride quality?

Yes. Conservative drops (Eibach Turbo at -0.8" F) maintain near-stock comfort. Aggressive drops (H&R Sport at -1.2" F) are noticeably firmer. All kits in this guide use progressive springs for a balance of comfort and handling.

I have a Carrera 4. Which kit fits?

The H&R Sport (28880-2) and H&R VTF (23009-1) fit Carrera 4 and 4S. The H&R Sport (28880-1) and VTF (23009-2) are for Carrera S 2WD only — they will not fit Carrera 4.

Should I get lowering springs or coilovers?

Lowering springs offer a set drop at lower cost ($335–$1,036 vs. $2,000+ for 911 coilovers). If you want adjustable ride height and damping, coilovers are the better choice. The H&R VTF bridges the gap with height adjustment but no damping control. Check our Suspension Buyers Guide for a full comparison.

I have front axle lift. Will these springs work?

Some kits may have different fitment for cars with front axle lift. Verify with the product listing or contact us before purchasing. The H&R Sport and VTF kits are designed for PASM; front lift compatibility may vary.
