What You Need to Know About Lowering Springs
Drop Height Varies by Trim
The same spring kit can produce different drop heights depending on your vehicle's trim and engine. M Sport models often sit differently than base models. Each guide breaks this down by sub-model.
BMW: Adaptive M / EDC Compatibility
Some BMW models come with Electronic Damping Control (EDC) or Adaptive M suspension. Not all lowering springs are compatible. Our guides flag which kits require EDC-specific variants or work with standard dampers.
Porsche: PASM vs Non-PASM
Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and leveling control systems require specific spring kits. Our guides clearly mark which kits fit PASM-equipped cars and which exclude certain options.
Shocks & Struts Matter
Most lowering springs work with factory shocks, but worn dampers will compromise ride quality. If your vehicle has high mileage, consider upgrading to performance shocks for the best results.
Springs vs. Coilovers
Lowering springs offer a set drop at the lowest cost. If you want adjustable ride height and damping, consider coilovers instead. Check our Suspension Buyers Guide for a full comparison.
Platform Sharing (BRZ/86/GR86)
The Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86/GR86 share the same platform. Many spring kits fit both badges, but trim-specific drops vary. Each guide clearly marks which kits are shared and any trim-specific notes.
