What to Know Before You Buy

RWD vs xDrive

The F32 4 Series was offered in RWD and xDrive (AWD). H&R has separate kits: 28878-2 and 28877-2 for RWD; 28832-1 for xDrive. Eibach kits are typically RWD-specific. Verify your drivetrain before purchasing.

Sport Suspension

H&R springs produce different drops depending on whether your F32 has factory sport suspension. Cars with sport suspension typically see less drop (e.g., -0.6" vs -1.1" for H&R Sport). Check your build or VIN.

Trim-Specific Eibach

Eibach offers separate Pro-Kit part numbers for 428i (E10-20-031-01-22) and 435i/440i (E10-20-031-02-22). The Sportline (E20-20-031-01-22) fits 428i Coupe. Do not mix part numbers.

Alignment & Camber

Drops under 1.0" typically stay within factory alignment. Larger drops (H&R Super Sport) may require camber correction. Always budget for a professional alignment after installation.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need new shocks when installing lowering springs?

No. All kits in this guide work with factory shocks. If your F32 has high mileage, consider refreshing dampers when installing springs.

Will lowering springs void my factory warranty?

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer cannot void your entire warranty for installing aftermarket parts. However, warranty claims directly related to the modification can be denied.

Do these springs fit the F33 Cabrio or F36 Gran Coupe?

No. The F33 (Cabrio) and F36 (Gran Coupe) have different suspension geometry. This guide covers F32 Coupe only. Check our other guides for Cabrio and Gran Coupe.

Should I get lowering springs or coilovers?

Lowering springs offer a set drop at lower cost ($229–$341 vs. $1,000+ for coilovers). If you want adjustable ride height and damping, coilovers are the better choice. Check our Suspension Buyers Guide for a full comparison.
