The Bilstein 5100 Shocks Set is a high-performance suspension upgrade designed for 4WD vehicles, specifically the 1992-1994 Chevrolet Blazer 4WD 2DR with 4-6 inches of lift. Featuring a monotube design with a 46mm digressive piston, these shocks enhance handling both on and off-road by reducing body roll and nose dive while providing a smoother ride over bumps and rough terrain. Constructed with a durable zinc plating for corrosion and rust resistance, the B8 5100 series can handle increased loads, towing, and off-road conditions, making it ideal for lifted vehicles and those with larger tires. The package includes four shocks—two front and two rear—along with all necessary hardware for installation, reusing factory shock mounting bolts. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty, these shocks are engineered for longevity and consistent performance in demanding environments.
Designed specifically for 4WD vehicles with larger tires or lifts, this shock set is compatible with the specified Chevrolet Blazer model and year range. It is intended for use in off-road, towing, or heavy-duty applications, providing improved stability and ride quality for lifted or larger-tire setups. The shocks are a bolt-on replacement, with all mounting hardware included, although mounting plates are sold separately. Suitable for vehicles with a higher center of gravity, the Bilstein 5100 shocks are optimized for off-road terrain and demanding driving conditions, ensuring durability and performance over an estimated 100,000 miles. Factory hardware is reused during installation, making it a straightforward upgrade for compatible vehicles.

[Blog Post: Bilstein 5100 vs. 4600, Major Differences](https://www.shocksurplus.com/pages/bilstein-4600-vs-5100-series-the-lowdown)
Bilstein 5100 shocks utilize a monotube design, with a 46mm digressive piston, to increase road handling characteristics both on and off-road. The single tube body allows for rapid heat transfer between the shock oil to the shock body, and then dissipated further to reduce shock fade. German engineering combined with US manufacturing ensures optimum performance and longevity for upwards of 100k miles (real customer feedback!). The 5100 series is more compliant in tougher situations and off-road terrain compared to the 4600 series. Factory spec vehicles should use the 4600 series shocks as the valving is more appropriate for daily driven vehicles and pavement environments.
