The Bilstein 5100 Shocks Set is a high-performance suspension upgrade designed for 1987-1996 Jeep Wrangler YJ models with a 3-4 inch lift. Featuring a monotube design with a 46mm digressive piston, these shocks enhance handling both on and off-road by reducing body roll and nose dive while providing a more compliant ride over bumps and rough terrain. Constructed with a durable zinc plating, they offer excellent corrosion and rust resistance in harsh environments. The shocks are extended length to accommodate lifted vehicles, making them ideal for larger tires and increased off-road capability. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty, these shocks are engineered for durability, heavy-duty loads, towing, and off-road adventures, ensuring long-lasting performance and reliability.
Designed specifically for 4WD vehicles with a 3-4 inch lift, these shocks are a direct bolt-on replacement that includes all necessary hardware such as washers, bushings, reservoir clamps, and nuts. They are compatible with factory shock mounting bolts, with mounting plates sold separately. Suitable for lifted vehicles with larger wheels and tires, they improve ride quality and off-road handling while maintaining factory specifications for fitment. These shocks are perfect for daily driving, off-road excursions, and towing, providing a versatile and durable upgrade for Jeep Wranglers with a 4WD drivetrain and a lift height of 3-4 inches.

[Blog Post: Bilstein 5100 vs. 4600, Major Differences](https://www.shocksurplus.com/pages/bilstein-4600-vs-5100-series-the-lowdown)
Bilstein 5100 shocks utilize a monotube design, with a 46mm digressive piston, to increase road handling characteristics both on and off-road. The single tube body allows for rapid heat transfer between the shock oil to the shock body, and then dissipated further to reduce shock fade. German engineering combined with US manufacturing ensures optimum performance and longevity for upwards of 100k miles (real customer feedback!). The 5100 series is more compliant in tougher situations and off-road terrain compared to the 4600 series. Factory spec vehicles should use the 4600 series shocks as the valving is more appropriate for daily driven vehicles and pavement environments.
