The Bilstein 5100 Shocks Set is a high-performance suspension upgrade designed for 1992-1999 Chevrolet K2500 Suburban 4WD vehicles with a 4-6 inch lift. Featuring a monotube design with a 46mm digressive piston, these shocks enhance both on-road handling and off-road capability by reducing body roll and nose dive while providing a more compliant ride over bumps and rough terrain. Constructed with a durable zinc plating for corrosion and rust resistance, the shocks are engineered to handle increased loads, towing, and off-road conditions. The set includes four shocks—two for the front and two for the rear—extended to accommodate the lift height, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty, these shocks are a reliable choice for lifted trucks demanding durability and superior handling.

Designed specifically for 4WD vehicles with a 4-6 inch lift, these shocks are compatible with vehicles that utilize factory hardware for installation, including washers, bushings, reservoir clamps, and nuts. The kit reuses factory shock mounting bolts, with mounting plates sold separately. Ideal for lifted trucks with larger tires or off-road use, the Bilstein 5100 shocks improve ride quality and stability in demanding environments. They are suitable for daily driving, off-road adventures, and towing, offering a versatile upgrade that enhances vehicle control and comfort. These shocks are not recommended for factory-spec vehicles, which should use the Bilstein 4600 series for optimal performance on pavement.

[Blog Post: Bilstein 5100 vs. 4600, Major Differences](https://www.shocksurplus.com/pages/bilstein-4600-vs-5100-series-the-lowdown)

Bilstein 5100 shocks utilize a monotube design, with a 46mm digressive piston, to increase road handling characteristics both on and off-road. The single tube body allows for rapid heat transfer between the shock oil to the shock body, and then dissipated further to reduce shock fade. German engineering combined with US manufacturing ensures optimum performance and longevity for upwards of 100k miles (real customer feedback!). The 5100 series is more compliant in tougher situations and off-road terrain compared to the 4600 series. Factory spec vehicles should use the 4600 series shocks as the valving is more appropriate for daily driven vehicles and pavement environments.
