The Bilstein 5100 Shocks Set is a high-performance suspension upgrade designed for 4WD vehicles with 4-6 inch front lifts. This set includes four shocks—two for the front and two for the rear—featuring a monotube design with a 46mm digressive piston that enhances handling both on and off-road. Built with durable materials and finished with a zinc plating for corrosion resistance, these shocks provide increased load capacity, towing stability, and off-road capability. They reduce body roll and nose dive while offering a more compliant ride over bumps and rough terrain, making them ideal for lifted trucks with larger tires and off-road use.
Designed specifically for 1995-1999 GMC Yukon models with rear leaf springs and front torsion bar springs, these shocks are compatible with vehicles equipped with 4-6 inch front lifts and 2-4 inch rear lifts. They are intended for use on 4WD vehicles and serve as direct replacements for factory shocks, reusing existing hardware for installation. The kit includes all necessary washers, bushings, reservoir clamps, and nuts, with mounting plates sold separately. Suitable for daily driving, towing, and off-road adventures, the Bilstein 5100 shocks deliver long-lasting performance and improved handling in demanding environments.

[Blog Post: Bilstein 5100 vs. 4600, Major Differences](https://www.shocksurplus.com/pages/bilstein-4600-vs-5100-series-the-lowdown)
Bilstein 5100 shocks utilize a monotube design, with a 46mm digressive piston, to increase road handling characteristics both on and off-road. The single tube body allows for rapid heat transfer between the shock oil to the shock body, and then dissipated further to reduce shock fade. German engineering combined with US manufacturing ensures optimum performance and longevity for upwards of 100k miles (real customer feedback!). The 5100 series is more compliant in tougher situations and off-road terrain compared to the 4600 series. Factory spec vehicles should use the 4600 series shocks as the valving is more appropriate for daily driven vehicles and pavement environments.
