The Bilstein B8 5100 Monotube Shocks Front Pair are high-performance suspension components designed for 1997-2003 Ford F-150 RWD trucks with a lift kit. Featuring a monotube design with a 46mm digressive piston, these shocks enhance road handling both on and off-road by providing increased stability, reduced body roll, and improved compliance over bumps and rough terrain. Constructed with a zinc-plated finish, they offer excellent corrosion and rust resistance, ensuring durability in harsh environments. The B8 5100 series is capable of handling heavy-duty loads, towing, and off-road conditions, making it ideal for lifted vehicles with larger tires. Reusing factory hardware, these shocks include all necessary washers, bushings, reservoir clamps, and nuts for straightforward installation, with mounting plates sold separately. They come with a limited lifetime warranty, reflecting their quality and longevity.

Designed specifically for 1997-2003 Ford F-150 RWD trucks equipped with a lift kit, these shocks are a direct replacement for factory units on vehicles with larger wheels and tires or higher center of gravity. They are intended for lifted applications and are not suitable for factory-spec vehicles, which should use Bilstein 4600 series shocks. The package includes two shock absorbers, making it suitable for front suspension upgrades. These shocks are perfect for off-road enthusiasts, daily drivers with lifted trucks, or anyone needing reliable, high-performance shocks that improve handling, comfort, and durability in demanding conditions. Installation involves reusing factory mounting bolts, with all necessary hardware included for a hassle-free upgrade.

[Blog Post: Bilstein 5100 vs. 4600, Major Differences](https://www.shocksurplus.com/pages/bilstein-4600-vs-5100-series-the-lowdown)

Bilstein 5100 shocks utilize a monotube design, with a 46mm digressive piston, to increase road handling characteristics both on and off-road. The single tube body allows for rapid heat transfer between the shock oil to the shock body, and then dissipated further to reduce shock fade. German engineering combined with US manufacturing ensures optimum performance and longevity for upwards of 100k miles (real customer feedback!). The 5100 series is more compliant in tougher situations and off-road terrain compared to the 4600 series. Factory spec vehicles should use the 4600 series shocks as the valving is more appropriate for daily driven vehicles and pavement environments.
