▶ Vehicle Fitments
The Bilstein B8 5100 Monotube Shocks are high-performance front suspension components designed for lifted vehicles. Featuring a monotube design with a 46mm digressive piston, these shocks provide enhanced handling both on and off-road. Built with a zinc-plated finish for corrosion resistance, they are engineered to handle increased loads, towing, and rough terrain while reducing body roll and nose dive. The extended length accommodates 1.5-2" front lift systems, making them ideal for larger tires and lifted setups. With a limited lifetime warranty, these shocks ensure durability and long-lasting performance, offering improved compliance over bumps and holes for a smoother ride in demanding conditions.
Designed to fit 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee models with 4WD, AWD, or RWD configurations, these shocks are suitable for vehicles with a 1.5-2" front lift. They are a direct bolt-on replacement, reusing factory hardware such as shock mounting bolts, washers, bushings, reservoir clamps, and nuts. The kit includes two shocks and is perfect for lifted vehicles used for daily driving, off-road adventures, or towing. Factory mounting plates are sold separately. These shocks are optimized for larger wheels and tires, providing a versatile upgrade that enhances vehicle stability and off-road capability while maintaining comfort on paved roads.

[Blog Post: Bilstein 5100 vs. 4600, Major Differences](https://www.shocksurplus.com/pages/bilstein-4600-vs-5100-series-the-lowdown)
Bilstein 5100 shocks utilize a monotube design, with a 46mm digressive piston, to increase road handling characteristics both on and off-road. The single tube body allows for rapid heat transfer between the shock oil to the shock body, and then dissipated further to reduce shock fade. German engineering combined with US manufacturing ensures optimum performance and longevity for upwards of 100k miles (real customer feedback!). The 5100 series is more compliant in tougher situations and off-road terrain compared to the 4600 series. Factory spec vehicles should use the 4600 series shocks as the valving is more appropriate for daily driven vehicles and pavement environments.
