The Bilstein B8 5100 Monotube Shocks Front Pair are high-performance suspension components designed for lifted Ford Excursion models from 2000 to 2005. Featuring a monotube design with a 46mm digressive piston, these shocks enhance handling both on and off-road by providing increased responsiveness and heat dissipation. Built with durable materials and finished with a zinc plating for corrosion resistance, they reduce body roll and nose dive while offering improved compliance over bumps and rough terrain. These shocks are extended length to accommodate a 4-inch front lift, making them ideal for larger tires and lifted vehicles. They are engineered to handle heavy-duty loads, towing, and off-road conditions, ensuring long-lasting performance and reliability.
Designed specifically for 2000-2005 Ford Excursion RWD models with a 4-inch front lift, these shocks are a direct bolt-on replacement that reuse factory hardware, including washers, bushings, reservoir clamps, and nuts. They are intended for vehicles with larger wheels or lifted suspensions, providing enhanced off-road capability and ride quality. The package includes two shocks for the front suspension, with mounting plates sold separately. These shocks are suitable for lifted vehicles used for daily driving, off-road adventures, or towing, offering a versatile upgrade that improves handling and durability in demanding environments.

[Blog Post: Bilstein 5100 vs. 4600, Major Differences](https://www.shocksurplus.com/pages/bilstein-4600-vs-5100-series-the-lowdown)
Bilstein 5100 shocks utilize a monotube design, with a 46mm digressive piston, to increase road handling characteristics both on and off-road. The single tube body allows for rapid heat transfer between the shock oil to the shock body, and then dissipated further to reduce shock fade. German engineering combined with US manufacturing ensures optimum performance and longevity for upwards of 100k miles (real customer feedback!). The 5100 series is more compliant in tougher situations and off-road terrain compared to the 4600 series. Factory spec vehicles should use the 4600 series shocks as the valving is more appropriate for daily driven vehicles and pavement environments.
