The Bilstein B8 5100 Monotube Shocks Rear Pair are high-performance shock absorbers designed specifically for 2013-2023 Ram 3500 4WD models. Constructed with a monotube design and a 46mm digressive piston, these shocks enhance handling both on and off-road by reducing body roll and nose dive while providing increased compliance over bumps and rough terrain. They are built with a durable zinc plating to resist corrosion and rust in harsh environments. The B8 5100 series is capable of handling increased loads, towing, and off-road conditions, making it ideal for vehicles with larger tires or slight lifts of up to 1 inch. The package includes all necessary hardware for installation, with factory shock mounting bolts reused, ensuring a straightforward bolt-on upgrade for improved ride quality and durability.
Designed exclusively for 4WD Ram 3500 trucks at factory height or with up to a 1-inch rear lift, these shocks are suitable for vehicles with no suspension modifications or minor lifts. They are intended for use in demanding daily driving, towing, and off-road applications, providing enhanced stability and comfort. The kit contains two shock absorbers, washers, bushings, reservoir clamps, and nuts, with mounting plates sold separately. These shocks are not compatible with 2WD models or vehicles with larger lifts, and factory hardware ensures a secure fit. Perfect for owners seeking a reliable upgrade to improve off-road performance and load handling in rugged environments.

[Blog Post: Bilstein 5100 vs. 4600, Major Differences](https://www.shocksurplus.com/pages/bilstein-4600-vs-5100-series-the-lowdown)
Bilstein 5100 shocks utilize a monotube design, with a 46mm digressive piston, to increase road handling characteristics both on and off-road. The single tube body allows for rapid heat transfer between the shock oil to the shock body, and then dissipated further to reduce shock fade. German engineering combined with US manufacturing ensures optimum performance and longevity for upwards of 100k miles (real customer feedback!). The 5100 series is more compliant in tougher situations and off-road terrain compared to the 4600 series. Factory spec vehicles should use the 4600 series shocks as the valving is more appropriate for daily driven vehicles and pavement environments.
