The Cometic MLS Head Gasket for the 1999 and up Honda S2000 2.0L VTEC (F20C1, F20C2, F22C) is a high-performance sealing component designed to withstand demanding engine conditions. Constructed with three layers of stainless steel, this gasket offers enhanced strength, resilience, and corrosion resistance. The outer layers are embossed and coated with a Viton rubber-based material, which is heat resistant up to 2500°C (4820°F). This coating ensures reliable sealing in harsh environments, while the center shim layer provides precise compression and durability. The gasket's design aims to improve sealing integrity under high boost, increased compression, or aggressive tuning, making it suitable for both stock and modified engines.

This gasket is a direct replacement for OEM head gaskets on compatible Honda S2000 models from 1999 onward, featuring an 89mm bore and a thickness of 0.075 inches. It is intended for use in high-performance applications, including street, track, and racing setups, where reliable sealing under elevated pressures is critical. Installation involves standard head gasket replacement procedures, ensuring a secure fit between the cylinder head and engine block. Overview

The Cometic MLS gasket is comprised of three layers of Stainless Steel. Cometic uses Stainless steel for increased strength, its ability to rebound and corrosion resistance. The outer layers of the gasket are embossed and coated on both sides with a flouroelastomer rubber based material (Viton) designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions and surface finishes. The Viton coating is heat resistant to 2500C or 4820F.

The center or shim layer of the gasket is comprised of an uncoated Stainless Steel layer, which can be varied to accommodate multiple thickness requirements. The MLS gasket is ideal for both aluminum heads to cast iron blocks and aluminum heads to aluminum blocks.

The composition of MLS will also withstand the shearing forces created by aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. No re-torque is necessary. By design the MLS gasket promotes an even torque load across the sealing surface allowing for measurable reduced bore distortion.
