The Skyjacker 2.5" Softride Springs for 1976-1986 Jeep CJ and Scrambler models are high-performance leaf springs designed to enhance wheel travel and ride quality. Constructed from American steel, each leaf is shot-peened with hard steel pellets at high velocities to increase tensile strength and durability. This shot-peening process compresses the steel surface, allowing for maximum flex and load distribution without compromising spring life. The springs feature bolt-style spring clips that eliminate friction and binding issues common with other designs, while tapering along their length to promote more flex at the leaf ends. These design features ensure even load distribution and reduce the tendency for individual leaves to dig into adjacent leaves, resulting in improved off-road performance and ride comfort.
Designed specifically for 1976-1986 Jeep CJ and Scrambler models, these springs are a direct bolt-on replacement for stock suspension components. They are suitable for off-road use, providing increased wheel travel and load-carrying capacity for rugged terrain. Installation involves replacing existing springs with these Softride units, which are engineered to fit the specified vehicle years and models without additional modifications. The kit includes the springs and necessary hardware for installation. Ideal for off-road enthusiasts and daily drivers seeking enhanced suspension performance, these springs deliver increased flex, strength, and longevity for demanding driving conditions.

Overview
Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
