The Skyjacker 2.5" Softride(R) rear leaf springs are designed to enhance off-road and on-road performance for Jeep CJ models from 1976 to 1986. Constructed from high-quality American steel, each leaf is shot-peened with hard steel pellets at high velocities to increase tensile strength and durability. This process ensures maximum wheel travel and improved ride quality without compromising spring life. The springs feature bolt-style spring clips, which eliminate friction and binding issues common with other designs that use bend clips. Additionally, the springs taper along their entire length, allowing for more flex at the leaf ends, which distributes loads evenly and reduces the risk of leaf dig-in, resulting in a smoother, more controlled ride.
These springs are a direct replacement for 76-86 Jeep CJ models, providing a 2.5-inch lift suitable for off-road use, daily driving, or light towing. They are designed specifically for the Jeep CJ chassis and are ideal for enhancing suspension performance and load-carrying capacity. Installation involves replacing the existing leaf springs with these bolt-on units, offering a straightforward upgrade. The kit includes the necessary springs and hardware, making it suitable for enthusiasts seeking improved flex, strength, and ride quality in their off-road or street-driven Jeep CJ vehicles.

Overview
Overview
Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
