The Skyjacker 2.5" SR Front Springs for 1967–1972 General Motors trucks are high-performance leaf springs designed to enhance ride quality and wheel travel. Constructed from American steel, these Softride springs feature shot-peening with hard steel pellets at high velocities, which compresses the steel surface and increases tensile strength. This process ensures maximum durability and flexibility, allowing for improved load distribution and reduced leaf binding. The springs utilize bolt-style spring clips that eliminate friction, unlike traditional bend clips, resulting in smoother operation and longer spring life. Their tapered design along the entire length of each leaf provides increased flex at the ends, promoting even load sharing and reducing the tendency for individual leaves to dig into each other during articulation.

Designed specifically for 1967–1972 GM trucks, these springs are a direct bolt-on replacement for the front suspension. They are suitable for use on various GM models from that era, offering an upgrade in ride comfort and off-road performance. These springs are ideal for restoring or enhancing the vehicle’s suspension system, whether for daily driving, off-road adventures, or towing applications. Installation involves replacing the existing front springs with these units, ensuring compatibility with the original chassis and suspension components. The kit includes the necessary springs and mounting hardware, providing a straightforward upgrade for classic GM trucks seeking improved durability and ride quality.

Overview

Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
