The Skyjacker 3.5-4 inch Softride springs are designed as high-performance suspension components for classic Jeep CJ models from 1955 to 1975. Constructed from American steel, these springs feature shot-peened individual leafs with hard steel pellets at high velocities, which enhances tensile strength and durability. The tapering design throughout the length of each leaf allows for increased flex at the ends, promoting better wheel travel and ride quality. By using bolt-style spring clips instead of bend clips, these springs eliminate friction and binding issues common in other designs, resulting in smoother operation and longer spring life. The Softride technology ensures load distribution is more even, reducing the risk of leaf dig-in and improving off-road and on-road performance.
These springs are a direct bolt-on replacement for 1955-1975 Jeep CJ models, suitable for vehicles with various engine configurations within that range. They are intended for off-road use, providing enhanced wheel travel and ride comfort while maintaining durability under demanding conditions. Installation involves replacing the existing springs with these units, which are designed to fit seamlessly without modifications. The kit includes the necessary leaf springs and spring clips, offering a straightforward upgrade for enthusiasts seeking improved suspension performance on classic Jeep CJ vehicles.

Overview
Overview
Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
