â–¶ Vehicle Fitments
The Skyjacker 8" 67-72 GM Front Softride Springs are high-performance leaf springs designed to enhance ride quality and wheel travel for classic GM trucks from 1967 to 1972. Constructed from American steel, each leaf is shot-peened with hard steel pellets at high velocities to increase tensile strength and durability. This shot-peening process compresses the steel surface, allowing for maximum wheel travel and improved ride comfort without sacrificing spring life. The springs feature bolt-style spring clips that eliminate friction and binding issues common with other designs, while tapering along their entire length to promote more flex at the leaf ends. This design distributes loads evenly and reduces the risk of leaf dig-in, resulting in a smoother, more controlled ride.
These springs are a direct fit for 1967–1972 GM trucks with front suspension setups, offering a reliable upgrade for restoring or improving vehicle performance. They are intended for use in applications requiring increased lift and load-carrying capacity, suitable for street driving, off-road use, or light towing. Installation involves replacing the original front leaf springs with these bolt-on units, ensuring compatibility with the specified vehicle models. The kit includes the necessary leaf springs designed specifically for the front suspension of these GM trucks, providing a durable and performance-oriented solution for classic truck enthusiasts.

Overview
Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
