The Skyjacker Leaf Spring for 1972-1977 International Scout II is a high-performance suspension component designed to enhance load capacity and ride quality. Constructed from American steel, these Softride springs feature shot-peened individual leafs, which increase tensile strength and durability. The shot-peening process involves blasting the steel surface with hard steel pellets at high velocities, compressing the surface to improve spring life and performance. Additionally, the springs utilize bolt-style spring clips, eliminating friction and binding issues common with other designs. The tapering of the springs along their entire length allows for more flex at the leaf ends, promoting even load distribution and reducing the risk of leaf dig-in, resulting in improved wheel travel and ride comfort.

This leaf spring set is specifically designed for 1972-1977 International Scout II models with 4-wheel drive. It is a direct replacement for the stock suspension components, suitable for off-road use, heavy-duty hauling, or improving overall vehicle stability. The kit includes the necessary leaf springs with the specified SKU S20FS, ensuring compatibility with the Scout II chassis. Installation is straightforward for those familiar with suspension upgrades, and these springs are ideal for off-road enthusiasts or daily drivers seeking enhanced durability and performance. Proper fitment ensures optimal vehicle handling and longevity under demanding conditions.

Overview

Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
