The Skyjacker Leaf Spring for 1972-1989 Dodge W100 pickups is a high-performance suspension component designed to enhance load-carrying capacity and ride quality. Constructed with American steel, these Softride springs feature shot-peened individual leafs, which increases tensile strength and durability. The shot-peening process involves bombarding the steel surface with hard steel pellets at high velocities, compressing the surface and improving the spring’s resilience. Additionally, the springs utilize bolt-style spring clips that eliminate friction and binding issues common with other designs. The tapering along the entire length of each leaf allows for increased flex at the ends, promoting even load distribution and reducing the risk of leaf dig-in, ultimately extending spring life and improving overall suspension performance.

Designed specifically for 1972-1989 Dodge W100 pickups, these springs are a direct replacement for stock leaf springs on trucks with similar specifications. They are suitable for off-road, towing, or heavy-duty applications where enhanced durability and load support are required. The bolt-on installation ensures a straightforward upgrade, fitting models with the appropriate chassis and suspension setup. These springs are ideal for drivers seeking improved ride comfort, increased wheel travel, and longer-lasting suspension components in demanding conditions. The kit includes the necessary leaf springs for a complete upgrade, providing a reliable solution for maintaining vehicle performance and stability.

Overview

Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
