â–¶ Vehicle Fitments
The Skyjacker Leaf Spring for 1976-1983 Jeep CJ5 is a high-performance suspension component designed to enhance ride quality and wheel travel. Constructed with American steel, these Softride springs feature shot-peened individual leafs, which increases tensile strength and durability. The shot-peening process compresses the steel surface, allowing for maximum flex and improved load distribution without sacrificing spring life. Additionally, the springs utilize bolt-style spring clips that eliminate friction, reducing binding and ensuring smooth operation. The tapering design along the entire length of each leaf provides increased flexibility at the ends, promoting even load sharing and reducing the risk of leaf dig-in, resulting in a more comfortable and reliable off-road or on-road experience.
This leaf spring is a direct replacement fitment for 1976-1983 Jeep CJ5 models, suitable for vehicles with specific suspension needs. It is ideal for off-road enthusiasts, daily drivers, or anyone seeking improved suspension performance and longevity. The kit is designed for bolt-on installation, offering a straightforward upgrade to enhance vehicle handling and ride quality. Compatibility is specific to the Jeep CJ5 from those years, and no additional components are typically required for installation. This spring provides a durable, high-quality solution for maintaining or upgrading your Jeep's suspension system.

Overview
Overview
Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
