The Skyjacker Leaf Spring for the 1987 GMC V1500 Pickup is a high-performance suspension component designed to enhance load capacity and ride quality. Constructed with American steel, these Softride springs feature shot-peened individual leafs, which increase tensile strength and durability. The shot-peening process compresses the steel surface with high-velocity steel pellets, allowing for maximum wheel travel and improved ride comfort without compromising spring life. Additionally, the springs utilize bolt-style spring clips that eliminate friction, unlike traditional bend clips that can cause binding. The tapering design along the entire length of the leaf creates more flex at the ends, distributing loads evenly and reducing the risk of leaf dig-in, resulting in a more responsive and longer-lasting suspension.
This leaf spring is a direct replacement for 1987 GMC V1500 pickups, suitable for models with specific chassis configurations. Designed for off-road, towing, or heavy-duty use, it provides enhanced suspension performance for demanding driving conditions. The bolt-on installation ensures a straightforward upgrade, restoring or improving vehicle handling and load-bearing capacity. This product is ideal for owners seeking increased durability and ride quality in their GMC V1500, whether for daily driving or off-road adventures.

Overview
Overview
Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
