The Skyjacker Leaf Spring YJ40RS is a high-performance suspension component designed specifically for 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler (YJ) models. Constructed from American steel, these Softride springs feature individual leafs that are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at high velocities, enhancing surface compression and increasing tensile strength. This shot-peening process is essential for maximizing wheel travel and ride quality while maintaining spring longevity. The springs utilize bolt-style spring clips, which eliminate friction and reduce binding issues common with other designs that use bend clips. Additionally, the springs taper along their entire length, allowing for more flex at the leaf ends, which distributes loads evenly and minimizes the risk of leaf dig-in, resulting in improved ride comfort and durability.
Designed for direct fitment on 1987-1995 Jeep Wranglers (YJ), these springs are ideal for off-road enthusiasts and daily drivers seeking enhanced suspension performance. They are engineered to provide increased wheel travel and load distribution, making them suitable for off-road adventures, towing, or improved street handling. The bolt-on installation ensures a straightforward upgrade, replacing factory springs with a durable, high-strength alternative. These springs are compatible with YJ models equipped with standard leaf spring suspensions and are intended for use in applications requiring increased flex and load capacity. They serve as a reliable upgrade for those looking to improve ride quality and suspension longevity.

Overview
Overview
Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
