The Skyjacker Leaf Spring YJ20RS is a high-performance suspension component designed specifically for 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler (YJ) models. Crafted with American steel, these Softride springs feature shot-peened individual leafs with hard steel pellets at high velocities, which enhances the tensile strength and durability of the springs. The design eliminates friction through bolt-style spring clips, unlike other designs that use bend clips causing binding and friction. The springs taper along their entire length, allowing for increased flex at the leaf ends, which results in more even load distribution and reduces the risk of leaf dig-in, ultimately improving wheel travel and ride quality.

This spring set is a direct replacement for YJ models from 1987 to 1995, suitable for off-road and rugged driving conditions. It is engineered to optimize performance, ride comfort, and longevity for Jeep Wranglers used in off-road or demanding environments. Installation involves replacing the existing springs with these bolt-on units, providing a straightforward upgrade. The kit includes the necessary leaf springs designed to enhance load distribution and flex, making it ideal for off-road enthusiasts seeking improved suspension performance and durability on their YJ Jeep Wranglers.

Overview

Softride(R) springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.
