Spoon S-Tai Bonnet for Honda Civic Type R FL5

Developed directly from Spoon Sports' Super Taikyu endurance racing program, the Spoon S-Tai Bonnet is a functional cooling and aerodynamic upgrade designed specifically for the Honda Civic Type R FL5. Unlike cosmetic vented hoods, the S-Tai Bonnet was engineered to solve one of the FL5's biggest challenges during sustained track use: efficiently evacuating heat from the engine bay.

While the factory FL5 front bumper provides ample fresh air intake, Spoon identified engine bay heat extraction as a limiting factor for cooling performance. To address this, the S-Tai Bonnet features a large central duct design that increases airflow evacuation from the engine compartment by approximately three times compared to the factory bonnet, significantly improving radiator and engine cooling efficiency during high-load driving conditions.

Additional side ducts help vent hot air while relieving pressure from the wheel wells. This pressure reduction contributes to increased downforce and improved high-speed stability, making the bonnet a true performance component rather than a styling accessory. Spoon's testing on their Super Taikyu race car demonstrated improved thermal management even during summer endurance racing conditions exceeding 95°F (35°C).

Constructed from lightweight and durable FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic), the S-Tai Bonnet is available with an integrated removable rain guard, allowing enthusiasts to balance cooling performance and weather protection as needed.
