Swift Spec-R Lowering Springs
Fits 2000–2009 Honda S2000 (AP1 / AP2)
Part #: 4H007R
Overview
Swift Spec-R Lowering Springs are engineered for the 2000-2009 Honda S2000 (AP1/AP2) driver seeking a track-proved upgrade that still delivers comfort for daily use. Designed at the upper limits of OEM damper valving, these springs lower your S2000 by about 1.2 inches front and rear while boosting handling precision and reducing body roll. Ideal for HPDE, SCCA competition, or spirited street driving, Spec-R strikes a balance between performance and usability without sacrificing comfort or quality.
Key Features
- Front rate: 7.5 kg/mm; Rear rate: 7.0 kg/mm — firm spring behavior tuned to OEM shock valving limits.
- Drop height: approximately -1.2″ front and rear — aggressive stance with preserved usable suspension travel.
- Proprietary alloy H5S.TW and unique winding method — enables quicker transient response and smoother ride over harsh surfaces.
- Reduced number of coils — lowers unsprung weight and minimizes risk of coil bind.
- Vehicle-specific tuning — sport-car character maintained for S2000 chassis while keeping ride comfort within street-friendly bounds.
- Compatible with OEM or aftermarket shocks that can work within the increased spring rate envelope.
Construction & Design
The Spec-R springs are crafted using Swift’s proprietary H5S.TW material, designed for strength and responsiveness. Through precision winding and heat treatment, the springs deliver consistent rate throughout much of the usable stroke. Fewer coils reduce unsprung mass and extend usable travel, ensuring that lowering doesn’t degrade shock longevity or road-holding capability.
Driving Feel & Feedback
Expect tighter turn-in and reduced body roll at cornering speeds, with a noticeably more planted feel under braking and acceleration. Harsh surface chop is better absorbed thanks to the material’s quick transient response, giving a more refined ride than many lowering springs in this class. On smooth roads, the ride is firm but substantially smoother than alternatives that ignore usable stroke or overstuff suspension geometry.
Installation & Fitment
The set includes all four lowering springs required for an AP1 or AP2 S2000. Works with OEM shock absorbers—no damper replacement needed, though condition of garages and alignment tuning will affect ride and performance. Lowering a vehicle may require alignment adjustment; check bump rubber clearance and inspect shock stroke to ensure compatibility.
