The Wilwood D8-6 Front Caliper Kit is a high-performance brake upgrade designed for classic Corvette C2 and C3 models from 1965 to 1982. Constructed with Type III hard anodized forged billet aluminum bodies, stainless steel pistons, and high-temperature seals, these calipers eliminate common issues such as rust, bore pitting, and seal failures found in original equipment. They offer low-maintenance performance, significant weight savings, and high-temperature reliability, thanks to their six-piston pad clamping power. The calipers mount directly in the stock location over existing rotors, use the original style D8 brake pads, and fit inside most ’67 or newer production wheels, with some wheels requiring a 3/16” or wider spacer for clearance. The kit includes DOT-compliant stainless braided brake lines and high-friction Promatrix brake pads, ensuring consistent stopping power and durability.

Designed for 1965-1982 Corvettes, these calipers are a direct bolt-on replacement for OE units, providing an upgrade in performance and longevity. They are suitable for street and performance driving, offering reliable braking with minimal maintenance. The calipers mount in the stock location over stock rotors and are compatible with most wheels from ’67 onward, though some older or aftermarket wheels may need spacers for proper fitment. The kit includes all necessary components for installation, making it an ideal upgrade for restoring or enhancing braking performance on classic Corvettes.

Overview

D8-6 Front calipers are a direct bolt-on replacement for the OE calipers on all 1965-82 Corvettes. Type III hard anodized forged billet aluminum bodies, stainless steel pistons, and high-temperature seals put an end to the rust, bore pitting and seal failures that plague the OE caliper design. D8-6 calipers provide low-maintenance performance, a huge weight savings, high temperature reliability, and the added benefit of six piston pad clamping power. D8-6 calipers mount in the stock location over stock rotors, use the original style D8 brake pads, and fit snugly inside most ’67 or newer production wheels. Some wheels, including the 1965-66 OE “JK” code steel wheels and a few aftermarket replica alloy wheels, will require a 3/16” or wider wheel spacer for clearance. Kits contain DOT compliant stainless braided brake lines and high friction Promatrix brake pads.
